Copper Nickel (Kunifer) Brake Pipe
If you’ve ever had to replace corroded brake lines to get a vehicle through its MOT, or struggled with brittle, seized steel pipes on a restoration project, you know how critical material choice is. While standard copper pipe is cheap and easy to bend, professional workshops and serious restorers turn to Copper Nickel (commonly known as Kunifer, CuNi, or NiCopp) for a permanent, high-performance fix.
Why Choose Kunifer Over Standard Copper?
Standard copper is soft, which makes it easy to route, but it has a lower yield strength and is prone to work-hardening and cracking under constant vehicle vibration. Copper Nickel solves these issues by combining the natural corrosion resistance of copper with the structural strength of nickel and iron.
Superior Fatigue Strength: Unlike standard copper, Kunifer can withstand the high-pressure pulses and constant chassis vibrations of a braking system without the risk of stress cracking over time.
Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: It is highly resistant to road salt, moisture, and under-car road grime. Once installed, these lines will easily outlast the vehicle.
Flaring and Bending: While slightly stiffer to bend than pure copper, it still shapes cleanly by hand or with a pipe bender without kinking. More importantly, it holds a perfect DIN or SAE single/double flare without splitting, ensuring a reliable, leak-free seal at the unions.
In the Workshop
This pipe is the industry standard for custom brake line fabrication, clutch lines, and fuel systems. When working with Kunifer, we recommend using a high-quality flaring tool to get clean, professional flares. Because it is tougher than standard copper, a drop of brake fluid on the die during flaring helps produce a perfect form every time. Always use correct pipe clips to secure the run and prevent chafing against the chassis.
Please note: The physical appearance and finish of the pipe coil may vary slightly from the product image depending on the manufacturing batch, but the material specification and grade remain identical.

Copper pipes are more traditional and easier to work with however Copper Nickel (aka CuNI, Kunifer, cupro-nickel or NiCopp) is more resistant to corrosion and has a higher fatigue strength.
Images are generic, actual kit contents or made up pipe may differ depending on fitment.
