When you're replacing corroded brake lines, you have a choice to make. While standard copper pipe is cheap and easy to bend by hand, it doesn't offer the same structural integrity or longevity as Copper Nickel (commonly known in the trade as Kunifer, CuNi, or NiCopp). For a professional-grade repair that will outlast the vehicle, Kunifer is the industry standard.

The addition of nickel to the copper alloy significantly increases the pipe's fatigue strength and tensile strength. In real-world terms, this means it handles the high-pressure spikes of emergency braking and the constant vibration of the chassis without work-hardening or cracking. More importantly for UK workshops, Kunifer is highly resistant to road salt and moisture, preventing the rapid surface corrosion that often flags up on MOT tests with cheaper alternatives.

On the bench, Kunifer is slightly stiffer to bend than pure copper, but it holds its shape far better once routed. It flares cleanly without splitting when using a quality flaring tool, ensuring a reliable, leak-free seal at the unions every time.

Why Choose Kunifer Over Standard Copper?

  • Superior Corrosion Resistance: Highly resistant to road salt, moisture, and harsh under-car environments.
  • High Fatigue Strength: Withstands constant vibration and high-pressure hydraulic cycles without degrading.
  • Professional Finish: Holds its shape neatly along the chassis rails without sagging or kinking easily during installation.
  • Reliable Flaring: Takes a clean single or double flare (SAE or DIN) without splitting, ensuring tight, leak-free connections.

Please note: The actual pipe supplied may differ slightly in appearance from the image shown depending on current production runs, but will always meet the exact material specifications.

Copper pipes are more traditional and easier to work with however Copper Nickel (aka CuNI, Kunifer, cupro-nickel or NiCopp) is more resistant to corrosion and has a higher fatigue strength.

We can manufacture pipes to your exact specifications.
