Copper Nickel (Kunifer) Brake Pipe

If you are replacing corroded brake lines to get a vehicle through its MOT, you want to do the job once and do it right. While standard copper pipe is cheap and easy to bend, Copper Nickel—commonly known in the trade as Kunifer, CuNi, or NiCopp—is the professional choice for a line that will outlast the vehicle.

Why Kunifer Beats Standard Copper

Standard copper is soft and easy to work with, but it has a lower fatigue strength and can work-harden over time, making it susceptible to cracking under constant vibration. Copper Nickel is an alloy engineered specifically to handle high-pressure hydraulic systems. It offers significantly higher tensile strength and fatigue resistance, meaning it easily handles the high pressures of modern braking systems without swelling or degrading.

More importantly for workshops in the UK, Kunifer is highly resistant to road salt, moisture, and grime. It will not rust out like original steel lines, and it won't oxidise or green-up like cheap copper.

In the Workshop

Kunifer strikes the perfect balance between strength and workability. It is stiff enough to hold its shape neatly along the chassis rails without sagging, yet pliable enough to be bent cleanly by hand or with a pipe bender without kinking. When it comes to putting a flare on the end, it takes a single or double flare beautifully with any decent flaring tool, ensuring a reliable, leak-free seal at the unions.

  • Superior Corrosion Resistance: Impervious to road salt and harsh weather, making it ideal for under-car brake runs.
  • High Fatigue Strength: Resists work-hardening and cracking caused by engine and road vibrations.
  • Excellent Workability: Bends cleanly without kinking and flares easily for a professional finish.
  • Reliable Sealing: Soft enough to seat perfectly into brass and steel unions, preventing weeping joints.

Please note: The appearance of the pipe coil supplied may vary slightly from the image shown, but the material specification and quality remain identical.
