The Professional Standard for Brake Line Replacement

If you are replacing brake lines on a vehicle that faces wet UK winters, road salt, and daily abuse, standard copper isn't always the best choice. While pure copper is soft and easy to bend, it lacks the tensile strength and fatigue resistance required for high-pressure, high-vibration automotive braking systems. That is where Copper Nickel (commonly known as Kunifer, CuNi, or NiCopp) comes in.

This copper-nickel alloy offers the perfect balance of workability and extreme durability. It provides significantly higher fatigue strength than standard copper, meaning it resists work-hardening and won't crack under the constant vibration of a running chassis. More importantly, its superior corrosion resistance means once you fit these lines, they are there for the lifetime of the vehicle.

In the Workshop

From a mechanic's perspective, Kunifer is the professional choice. It is slightly stiffer than pure copper, but it still bends smoothly without kinking when using a quality pipe bender. Crucially, it takes a flare exceptionally well—whether you are forming single or double flares (SAE or DIN)—giving you a reliable, leak-free seal against your brake unions every single time. It's the ideal material for rectifying MOT failures and custom brake system plumbing.

Key Workshop Benefits:

  • Superior Corrosion Resistance: Highly resistant to road salt, moisture, and chemical degradation, outlasting both steel and standard copper.
  • High Fatigue Strength: Resists the cracking and embrittlement caused by engine and road vibrations.
  • Reliable Flaring: Yields clean, precise flares that seal perfectly under high hydraulic pressure.
  • ABS Compatible: Easily handles the high-pressure pulses generated by modern ABS and ESP braking systems.

Copper pipes are more traditional and easier to work with however Copper Nickel (aka CuNI, Kunifer, cupro-nickel or NiCopp) is more resistant to corrosion and has a higher fatigue strength.

We can manufacture pipes to your exact specifications.
