When you're plumbing in a new braking system or replacing corroded lines to get a vehicle through its MOT, the material you choose matters. While standard copper pipe is cheap and easy to manipulate, it lacks the structural strength required for heavy-duty or long-term applications. This Copper Nickel pipe (commonly known in the trade as Kunifer, CuNi, or NiCopp) is the professional choice for brake line fabrication.
Why Choose Copper Nickel Over Standard Copper?
For UK workshops, salt-laden winter roads are the enemy of under-car plumbing. Kunifer offers distinct advantages that make it superior to both OEM steel and budget copper lines:
Superior Corrosion Resistance: The nickel content provides exceptional resistance to road salt, moisture, and chemical degradation, ensuring the lines won't need replacing again any time soon.
High Fatigue Strength: Brake systems operate under immense pressure cycles and constant vehicle vibration. Copper Nickel has a much higher fatigue limit than pure copper, meaning it won't work-harden and crack under stress.
Workability: While slightly stiffer than pure copper, it remains highly malleable. It bends cleanly without kinking (when using a proper pipe bender) and takes a perfect SAE double flare or DIN single flare without splitting.
In the Workshop
This pipe is ideal for custom builds, classic car restorations, and everyday brake line repairs. It behaves predictably in a flaring tool and seats tightly into union fittings for a leak-free seal. If you want to do the job once and do it right, this is the spec of pipe you should be running.
Please note: The physical appearance of the pipe roll may vary slightly from the image shown depending on production runs, but the material specification remains identical.

Copper pipes are more traditional and easier to work with however Copper Nickel (aka CuNI, Kunifer, cupro-nickel or NiCopp) is more resistant to corrosion and has a higher fatigue strength.
