Copper Nickel (Kunifer) Brake Pipe
When you're replacing corroded brake lines, you want to do the job once and know it’s going to last. While standard copper pipe is cheap and easy to bend, it lacks the structural integrity and long-term durability required for harsh under-car environments. That is where Copper Nickel (commonly known as Kunifer, CuNi, or NiCopp) comes in.
This copper-nickel alloy is the professional standard for brake line fabrication. It offers the ideal compromise: it is vastly more resistant to road salt and chemical corrosion than standard copper, and it possesses a much higher fatigue strength. This means it can easily withstand the constant vibration and high-pressure spikes of a vehicle's braking system without work-hardening or cracking over time.
Real-World Workshop Application
In the workshop, you need materials that behave predictably. Standard copper can be soft and prone to kinking if you aren't careful, and it can degrade over time under high pressure. Kunifer is slightly stiffer to bend than pure copper, but it still flares beautifully with a standard flaring tool (producing clean single or double flares) and holds its shape perfectly once routed along the chassis.
Superior Corrosion Resistance: Highly resistant to rust, road salt, and moisture, making it the ideal choice for vehicles facing harsh winter road conditions.
High Fatigue Strength: Engineered to withstand high-pressure braking systems and constant vehicle vibration without cracking or degrading.
Excellent Workability: Bends cleanly without kinking when using proper pipe bending tools, and flares consistently without splitting.
A Permanent Fix: Outlasts both OEM steel lines and standard copper, making it the go-to solution for resolving MOT rust failures permanently.
Please note: The actual pipe supplied may differ slightly in appearance from the image shown, but the material specification remains strictly high-grade Copper Nickel.
