Copper Nickel (Kunifer) Brake Pipe

If you have ever had to fight a corroded steel brake line off a vehicle, you know why choosing the right replacement material matters. While standard copper pipe is a traditional favourite because it is cheap and easy to bend, it lacks the tensile strength required for high-pressure systems and can work-harden and crack over time. Copper Nickel (commonly known as Kunifer, CuNi, or NiCopp) is the professional mechanic's choice for brake line fabrication.

Why Kunifer Beats Standard Copper & Steel

Kunifer strikes the perfect balance between workability and durability. By blending copper with nickel, this tubing offers significantly higher fatigue strength than pure copper, meaning it can withstand the constant pressure spikes of heavy braking without risk of failure.

More importantly for UK workshops, its corrosion resistance is second to none. It easily shrugs off road salt, moisture, and grime, ensuring the brake lines you fit today won't be back on the ramp with an MOT fail in a few years' time.

In the Workshop

  • Flaring: Kunifer holds a flare exceptionally well. Whether you are punching SAE double flares or DIN bubble flares, the material deforms cleanly without splitting or thinning out at the seats.
  • Bending: While stiffer than pure copper, it is still highly malleable. You can achieve tight, neat bends around chassis legs and bulkheads using a standard pipe bender without fear of kinking the line.
  • Application: Ideal for full brake system overhauls, clutch hydraulic lines, and fuel lines.

Note: The physical appearance or coil packaging of the pipe may differ slightly from the image shown, but the material specification remains identical.
