Professional Grade Copper-Nickel (Kunifer) Brake Pipe
When you're replacing corroded brake lines, you need a material that stands up to the elements and high system pressures. While standard copper is easy to bend, it lacks the structural integrity required for long-term safety under harsh conditions. That’s where Copper-Nickel (commonly known as Kunifer, CuNi, or NiCopp) comes in. It is the industry standard for professional, permanent brake line repairs.
Why Choose Kunifer Over Standard Copper?
Standard copper lines are prone to work-hardening and have a lower fatigue strength, meaning they can crack over time under constant pressure cycles and chassis vibration. Kunifer is an alloy that combines the corrosion resistance of copper with the strength of nickel and iron. Here is why it is the preferred choice in the workshop:
Superior Corrosion Resistance: Highly resistant to road salt, moisture, and road grime—essential for passing MOT inspections year after year.
High Fatigue Strength: Unlike standard copper, Kunifer can withstand the high-pressure pulses of modern ABS braking systems without expanding or degrading.
Workability: While stiffer than pure copper, it remains pliable enough to be bent by hand or with a pipe bender, and it takes a single or double flare (SAE or DIN) perfectly without splitting.
Real-World Workshop Tips
To get the best results when plumbing in new lines, we recommend using a high-quality flaring tool. Because Kunifer is tougher than standard copper, budget flaring tools can sometimes slip or deform the pipe. Always use a dedicated pipe cutter to ensure a square end, deburr the inside and outside of the cut before flaring, and use a touch of brake fluid as lubricant on the flaring die to get a perfect, leak-free seal.
Please note: The physical appearance of the pipe roll may vary slightly from the image shown, but the material specification remains strictly to professional engineering standards.
