The Professional’s Choice for Brake Line Replacements

Ask any seasoned mechanic about brake lines, and they’ll tell you that original steel lines are a rust magnet, and pure copper, while easy to bend, lacks the structural integrity for long-term peace of mind. That’s where Copper Nickel (Kunifer) pipe comes in. It is the industry standard for high-quality, permanent brake line repairs.

Kunifer (CuNi) alloy combines the best of both worlds. It offers the exceptional corrosion resistance of copper with the strength and fatigue resistance of steel. For vehicles subjected to harsh UK winter roads and road salt, upgrading to copper-nickel lines means you are installing a "fit-and-forget" solution that will easily outlast the vehicle.

In the Workshop: Bending and Flaring

While Kunifer is slightly stiffer to work with than standard copper, it is still highly malleable. It can be formed and routed along the chassis by hand or with a pipe bender without kinking. More importantly, it flares beautifully. Whether you are forming single or double flares (SAE or DIN), the material flows predictably under the flaring tool, ensuring a tight, leak-free seat against your brake union fittings without the risk of splitting.

Why Choose Copper Nickel Over Standard Copper?

  • Superior Fatigue Strength: Brake systems operate under immense pressure. Kunifer handles pressure spikes and chassis vibration far better than pure copper, preventing the material from work-hardening and cracking over time.
  • Unmatched Corrosion Resistance: Highly resistant to road salt, moisture, and chemical degradation, preventing the scale and pitting that plagues steel lines.
  • Workshop Workability: Stronger than copper but significantly easier to bend, flare, and route than rigid steel lines, saving you time on the hoist.

Please note: The physical appearance and packaging of the pipe coil may vary slightly from the image shown, but the material specification and quality remain identical.

Copper pipes are more traditional and easier to work with however Copper Nickel (aka CuNI, Kunifer, cupro-nickel or NiCopp) is more resistant to corrosion and has a higher fatigue strength.
