Professional Grade Copper Nickel (Kunifer) Brake Pipe

When you're replacing corroded brake lines, you want to do the job once and know it’s going to last the lifetime of the vehicle. While standard copper pipe is traditional and easy to bend, it lacks the structural strength required for high-pressure, high-vibration environments. Copper Nickel—commonly known in the trade as Kunifer, CuNi, or NiCopp—is the industry standard for professional-grade brake line fabrication.

This alloy offers the best of both worlds. It features the superior corrosion resistance needed to survive salted UK winter roads, combined with a much higher fatigue strength than pure copper. This means it won't work-harden and crack over time under the constant pressure spikes of a hydraulic braking system.

In the Workshop

In the bay, Kunifer strikes the perfect balance between workability and rigidity. It is slightly stiffer than soft copper, which is actually an advantage: it holds its shape beautifully along the chassis rails, giving you a neat, OEM-quality finish that won't sag. Despite its strength, it remains highly malleable. You can easily form tight, precise bends using a hand pipe bender without fear of kinking the tube.

Crucially, this material flares exceptionally well. Whether you are forming SAE single flares or DIN double flares, Kunifer rolls cleanly under the die of a quality flaring tool without splitting, ensuring a perfect, leak-free seat against your brake unions.

Key Workshop Benefits:

  • Superior Longevity: Highly resistant to rust, road salt, and chemical degradation compared to steel or standard copper.
  • High Fatigue Strength: Engineered to withstand constant hydraulic pressure cycles and chassis vibration without cracking.
  • Professional Finish: Stiff enough to retain its shape along long chassis runs for a clean, factory-look install.
  • Clean Flares: Excellent ductility ensures consistent, split-free flares with standard workshop flaring tools.
  • Versatile Application: Ideal for hydraulic brake lines, clutch lines, and fuel systems.
