DOT 5 Silicone Brake Fluid

If you are restoring a classic, rebuilding a braking system, or preparing a vehicle that spends long periods in storage, standard glycol-based brake fluid is your enemy. It actively absorbs moisture from the atmosphere, which leads to internal corrosion, pitted wheel cylinders, seized calipers, and a spongy pedal. Mechanic's Note: DOT 5 silicone fluid cannot be mixed with standard glycol-based fluids. To get the full benefit, the braking system must be completely flushed of old fluid, or ideally, filled during a complete rebuild with new seals and fresh lines. If you are replacing the plumbing, we recommend using Copper-Nickel (Kunifer) lines over standard copper for their superior fatigue strength and corrosion resistance.

Copper pipes are more traditional and easier to work with however Copper Nickel (aka CuNI, Kunifer, cupro-nickel or NiCopp) is more resistant to corrosion and has a higher fatigue strength.
