Anyone who has spent time plumbing in new brake lines knows that a flare is only as good as the preparation. If your pipe protrusion is even a millimetre off, you’ll end up with a split flare, a shallow seat, or a brake fluid leak. This replacement spacer is the critical gauge you need to set the exact pipe depth in your Automatic or Universal Flaring Tool before clamping down.

While traditional copper pipe is soft and highly forgiving, modern workshop standards often require Copper-Nickel (commonly known as Kunifer, CuNi, or NiCopp). Kunifer is the superior choice for longevity because of its high fatigue strength and resistance to road salt corrosion, but it is significantly tougher to work with. Because the material is harder, your flaring tolerances are much tighter. Using this spacer ensures you get the precise amount of pipe sticking out of the die, allowing you to form perfect, professional single or double flares on both copper and stubborn Kunifer lines without wasting material.

Copper pipes are more traditional and easier to work with however Copper Nickel (aka CuNI, Kunifer, cupro-nickel or NiCopp) is more resistant to corrosion and has a higher fatigue strength.
